Recycled Yogurt Container Lamp

Posted by Blogsnapper at 12:05 pm

PuddingLamp.jpg

I love the colorful, mod look of this lamp created by Craftster user Kianee. The coolest part is that she created it using recycled plastic yogurt containers!

I just stringed the containers together with little metal rings, put them on a lampshade ring and … done! (The plastic won’t melt because we’re using it with a low-heat, energy-saving bulb and the radius of the thing is wide enough)

Check out the thread at Craftster for more info and detail pix.

Arduino Wave Shield pitch-control demo

Posted by Blogsnapper at 12:05 pm

Limor of Adafruit Industries posted this video demonstrating how the Waveshield kit can turn Arduino into a sample-bending audio tool.

Consider for a moment that potentiometer replaced by - oh let’s say - photocells or maybe a force-sensing resistor. If you’ll excuse me - I’ve got some experimentation to go do - Wave Shield for Arduino

This Robotic Exoskeleton by Sarcos has been in development for many years, it still requires a tether but when it will be completely stand alone when it is released. Kayte at Love Forever recently posted about coming across Ann P. Smith’s robots at a RISD alumni sale. I would love to see these in person! It’s fun to stare at them and try to figure out where the original parts came from. Also fun: the robot animations on Smith’s website!

Fibra from Belgrade has created an interesting drum system. It uses old hard drive read/write arms as drum hammers. The original hard drive voice coils are used to move the arms. The picture above is the new system which doesn’t seem to be documented yet, have a look at the video for a demonstration of […]
