[slideshow] Lathed Gingerbread Tower

The gingerbread was cooked in a soda can for about an hour, so that it was very hard. Then I microwaved the gingerbread for a minute to make sure it got really hard. Then I put it on the wood lathe, and here it is.

Handmade nuts and bolts chess set found while roaming NYC

While exploring NYC late night with my friend Brian (”Hi, I’m Brian and this is my friend Brian”) we stumbled into this great late night chess shop, Chess Forum, on 219 Thompson Street. We had a great talk with Chris, who was minding the store at the time. I asked about handmade chess sets, and when Chris showed us this wonderful Nuts and Bolts chess set, I knew I had to shoot some video.

[slideshow] Gingerbread house with candle-lit windows

This house has "glass" windows made from melted Halloween candy and battery-powered "candles" that cast a flickering glow through them (even in the dormer).  Note the hidden trap door so you can turn the lights off.
