Simple, Cheap Guinea Pig Run

Posted by Blogsnapper at 02:05 pm

Hello! My daughter recently rescued a Guinea Pig which had been left
inside its hutch in a shed. I decided to let it have some freedom by
building it a large run. This Instructable shows the steps to make a
simple, cheap sectional run for a Guinea Pig or Rabbit. The whole
project cost me on…

Giant Cardboard Robot Gate Crashes Maker Faire

Posted by Blogsnapper at 02:05 pm

Roaming the grounds at the Maker Faire was a Giant Cardboard Robot. A gate-crashing giant cardboard robot. He was tromping through the faire greeting guests, but was also seen dancing to jug band with a moss covered Swamp Kirin. Surrealism at it’s finest.

One Hour Elastic Thread Dress

CRAFT: Sew and Sew

By Nicole Vasbinder

You can make this dress in about an hour using elastic thread to create shirring (soft gathers) which will add shaping. Elastic thread is super easy to work with but does take a little practice to get right. Definitely practice on some scrap fabric to get the hang of it.

Bamboo fencing

Posted by Blogsnapper at 02:05 pm

I use bamboo fencing for a number of things in the garden.
As a trellis, it will support flowers such as morning glories. As a
teepee, it can support heavier things like green beans and other
climbers. I have even used it for supporting tomatoes.  Bean

Knit Log Cabin Baby Blanket

Posted by Blogsnapper at 02:05 pm

I am loving the bright, bold colors of this knit log cabin baby blanket by The Purl Bee. It looks like a fun way to knit and work on a baby blanket without getting bored of knitting one single huge piece with the same color of yarn. I must make a note of this wonderful Anzula Squishy yarn that’s super soft and washable, a must for anything that touches a baby!

How_To_Make_Bias_Tape.jpg

This tutorial from Prudent Baby shows how to make custom bias tape with both the traditional method as well as by using a special bias tape making machine. I love the tips for folding the fabric before cutting to eliminate having to sew so many individual strips together.

Simple Lamp Mount

Posted by Blogsnapper at 01:05 pm

Here’s a simple way to mount a lamp to the side of a desk.  This is
specifically for the type of lamp that includes a clamp with a socket
that the lamp slides into. My desk/work table is special; it has a
2.5" wide piece of hardwood edging that makes using the included
clamp impossible.  So, I fa…

Crabfu’s DIY iPad stylus

Posted by Blogsnapper at 01:05 pm

In response to Collin’s DIY iPad stylus video, I-Wei created his own version that’s even simpler to build, using a metal-tipped mechanical lead holder as the conductive barrel (and the same type of conducting foam for the nib). I love that he was able to repurpose his favorite (all-metal) lead holder that he hadn’t used in years, since going digital in his design work. Nice work, I-Wei!
